Frost socks (DK)

Frost (DK) socks are warm and cozy socks in the same pattern as the Frost mittens.

The pattern has four sizes, S/48 sts, M/52 sts, L/56 sts, XL/60 sts. Sizes are approximate, use measurements to find the right size. Keep in mind that stranded colourwork is less elastic than knitting with one yarn.
The pattern is written for 22 sts per 10 cm but gives measurements for alternative gauge. This way, sizes can be altered and other yarnweights may be used.

To achieve desired gauge, it is recommended to knit a sample swatch. If the swatch has too many stitches in 10 cm, go up a needle size. If the swatch has too few stitches in 10 cm, go down a needle size.

The pattern has two alternatives for heel, stockinette and slip stitch rib.

Suggested yarn: Sandnes Perfect / Viking Sportsragg. Other sock yarn with length of approx. 100 m in 50 g may be used. Pictured sample is knitted in Viking Sportsragg.
Yarn amount: Colour 1: 100g (100g) 100 g (100g). Colour 2: 50 g (50g) 100g (100). For shoesize bigger than EU37-38 (size S and M) and EU45 (size L and XL) 50 g more of colour 2 yarn may be needed. For shoesizes bigger than EU 37-38 (size L and XL) 50 g more of colour 1 may be needed.
Suggested needles: 5 double pointed needles size 3.5 mm.
Gauge: 22sts = 10cm in stranded colourwork.
Sizes: S / 48 sts (M / 52 sts) L / 56 sts (XL / 60 sts)
Measurements (circumference): 21,8 cm (23,6 cm) 25,4 cm (27,2 cm) with gauge 22sts per 10 cm. Measurement is taken around the ball of the foot.

Sizes can be changed by knitting with different gauge, for example 24 or 26 sts in 10 cm.
Measurements with 24 sts per 10 cm: 20 cm (21,6 cm) 23,3 cm (25 cm). Measurements with 26 sts per 10 cm: 18,5 cm (20 cm) 21,5 cm (23,1 cm).
