“Vetter” are supernatural natural beings in Norwegian folklore. They hide in fairytale forests, water and mountains and remind us that we must take care of and respect nature. Some are kind and protective, while others are capricious and will trick or punish anyone who doesn’t please them.
The pattern comes in 3 sizes and can be adjusted further by using different gauge.
The pattern has two alternatives for heel and toe. If desired, other heel and toe designs may also be used.
Suggested yarn: Sandnes Sisu/Drops Fabel/Viking Frøya/Gjestal Silja. Other fingering sockyarn can be used. Photographed socks are knitted with Viking Frøya..
Yarn amount: Colour 1: 50 (50) 50 g, colour 2: 50 (50) 100 g, colour 3: 50 (50) 100 g. Another 50 grams of colour 2 and 3 yarn may also be needed for shoe sizes larger than EU39 in size M.
Suggested needles: Pattern is written using 5 double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and 5 double pointed needles size 2.75mm and gauge 32 sts in 10 cm. Different needle sizes may be needed for different gauge.
Sizes: S/M/64 sts, L/(72) sts XL/80 sts. Actual size is adjusted with gauge.
Gauge: 34 (32) 30 sts = 10 cm in stranded colourwork. Sample socks has 32 sts in 10 cm.
Measurements (circumference):
size S/M: 18,8 cm (20 cm) 21,3 cm.
size L: 21,2 cm (22,5 cm) 24 cm.
size XL: 23,5 cm (25 cm) 26,6 cm.
For other sizes, adjust gauge.
